Ok. I know. I am a little late in starting this year. I promised my family that I would do my best to focus strictly on home for our Christmas break this year and I am proud to say that I was able to exceed my families expectations. They were so shocked that I just simply shut everything down. No L5 stuff, no studio stuff, just vacation, Christmas shopping, video games with my kids, hockey games with my wife, and date nights. I could not believe how quickly I adjusted and how much I enjoyed getting to spend all the time with my family.
I’ve never been good at unplugging, so it was something that I even surprised myself with to be honest. I even left my phone at home for several family outings, which caused my family to go into complete shock, and I’m not sure that they have recovered still! So it was a little difficult for me to get back in the swing of things at the first of the year, so my apologies for the silence.
Our New Years Celebration was incredible once again. What a great time of singing and ministry in one of the most incredible facilities there is. We had a wonderful time and there simply is no better way to start the new year off.
Then it was on to Marrietta for our annual concert in the Atlanta area. The concert was promoted by our friends at IMC and it was Mr. Landon Beene who delivered a very memorable introduction for L5 that evening. He shared that 13 years ago he was there at the concert in Marrietta sitting in the middle section about half way back when Legacy Five took the stage for the very first time and he was so excited that 13 years later he was able to promote the concert and get to introduce the group! What an incredible thing to hear! Thanks to Landon and everyone in Marrietta for making that event so special for us.
We then traveled to Lakeland Florida for a concert that is unique in it’s own way as well. You see, the venue is always standing room only in Lakeland, but they also broadcast the concert over the internet. So it is a chance for our friends from all over the world to get a seat at the concert, and we had a blast.
This week we are in 4 states in 4 days! Starting in Oklahoma, then Texas, Kansas, and Illinois. So keep us, our driver, and Sunny in your prayers as we travel. Be sure to come and see us if we are close to your neck of the woods. We enjoy getting to see our friends and look forward to being with each of you in the near future.
Also, I would love to hear what your favorite thing was that you received for Christmas this year. I received a gift that I absolutely loved. It was a set of Predator cuff-links that I have been wanting for a couple of years now and they came from my wife. So be sure to share what your favorite gift was and who it came from!
Until next time…..

Happy New Year you guys! Hope it’s full of blessings.
Our Christmas was spent with you all.
Glad you had a great time with your family; however, I am very happy that you are back on the road. Will see you Sunday in Naperville. Tell Scott to add some more dates to your website. We have already (or in the process) ordered tickets for seven shows this year — but WE WANT MORE!!! lol Safe travels (it is snowing here in Chicago) and see you in a few days.
It’s such a joy to know that you had a great Christmas! Honestly, my favorite present this year was the love and peace of God. On New Years, a man from our church who was like a grandfather to me lost a three year battle to Leukemia, which was hard, and our church family had to say goodbye to our senior pastor after 16 years of service, and I don’t know if I will ever see him again here on earth, which was even harder. But in the midst of all of this trouble and tribulation, God’s peace has been anointed over me in a way that words cannot discribe. Our church has grown closer together as a family in a way that I thought would never happen. Truly, a revival started, and that, to both the human race and God, that is the greatest present that anyone can get!
Thank you for being a blessing and encouragement with your blogs! Hope to see more great things come from Jesus through Legacy Five this year!
Praise God for all that He is doing in your life and the life of your church. May true revival continue to flourish!
Welcome back, Gus. I was just wondering today when we could expect a new blog.
I am glad you had a good Christmas with your family. That is one of the best things about Christmas is getting to spend time with our loved ones. I enjoyed having my son and his family here for a few days. You asked what was the best Christmas present we received and I guess mine was not really meant as a present, but I did receive some money from an unexpected source, so that I was able to book my reservation for the
January 2013 cruise. I have been wanting to go on one for a long time and am thanking the Lord that I now have it to look forward to.
May the Lord be with you all as you travel.
i got a neck messager from my uncle bruce and my aunt diane.
Good to see you back on line! Glad to hear you got the much needed rest over the holidays. We don’t exchange gifts anymore except for the White Elephant gift exchange. My favorite part of Christmas was to visit with family and long-time friends.
My favorite (gift) was being able to watch my great grandchildren run through the house. We don’t know how many more Christmases I’ve got,as I am fighting an aggressive prostate cancer.I spent the month of August in the hospital, found out I also HAD,lung cancer, had surgery ,and removed it.MY real favorite gift was from my LORD,HE heard all of those prayers, and answered them.LOVE TO ALL OF YOU THAT HELD ME UP IN PRAYER !!
i’am so so very very sorry to hear me and my family are thinking about you and pray for you every single day.i love ya sis love always from your friend Shelby Diiro In Fergus Falls,MN.
I am so so sorry! You are in my prayers! Remember, there is always peace when you leave it in God’s hands!
Gus, I, too, was in Marrietta 13 years ago at L5′s first concert. And I have been back every January. This year, like all others, was great. Mr. Beene also said he had been on the bus with L5 and he could say that Legacy Five was the real deal, And that included each member. That has always been obvious to us, your fans. I say once again, L5, thanks for what you do and the way you do it!
see yall tonight in weeatherford texas tonight!
I won’t get to any of your four concerts this weekend but will certainly pray for Sunny and for snow removal for your route – Illinois just had their first big snow of the season and I think a lot of people have forgotten how to drive in the winter – aren’t we supposed to get wiser with age?
My favorite “gift” of the season was getting to spend time with our granddaughters – 3 1/2 and 6 weeks at the time. It was the first time Grandpa got to see the baby and that was the best gift God could have given either one of us – that and the fact that our little Leora made her theatrical debut playing baby Jesus in their Christmas pageant. The rest of their family was involved too but our daughter said that Leora was the real blessing for so many of the “actors/actresses” and for the people who came to see. Of course, watching the wonder of our 3 1/2 year old open presents and know why we celebrate is a great gift also. Esther (named after Queen Esther) is not bashful about telling the story.
My prayers are with you as you travel – not only for your safety on the roads but that God gives you every opportunity to share and bless those who don’t know Christ like you do and like all of us you’ve ministered and taught over the years. God bless you -
Glad to have you back!! Your story struck a chord with me – I’m another one of those “can’t put the BlackBerry away” kinda guys
We surprised the kids with a trip to Disney World – it’s coming up soon, can’t wait! It will be the first time the kids have been on a plane, and Karen & I haven’t been to Disney since we were kids.
Looking forward to seeing you guys this year – safe travels, God bless!
I got 2 pair of earrings from my parents that I really love! All of the earrings I had were stolen when our home was burgularized last year. One pair really meant a lot. My grandfather gave my grandmother a ring for their 50th wedding anniversary. It had 2 diamonds. Grandma wanted me to have it when she died and I made it into earrings. They were taken also.
Happy New Year Gus! My favorite present was a new Blue Yeti microphone from Mom and Dad. Quite nice for doing better-than-average home demos. I use Audacity to record. It takes some fiddling to find a good way to mix my voice with a performance track, but I’m pretty happy, and it’s WAY better than anything I could have done before.
